West Midlands

Herefordshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire, West Midlands, Worcestershire

Monmouthshire Council, Herefordshire Council, Powys Council along with Shropshire Good Food and Sustainable Food Places Network have come together to form The Marches as a region of authorities pursuing the possibilities of implementing Dynamic Food Procurement. Having successfully secured over £20,000 in funding – half of which came from The Dixon Foundation they have initiated a feasibility study via the Countryside and Community Research Institute (CCRI) to understand the viability and impact of implementing Dynamic Food Procurement across The Marches region.

London

City of London, Greater London

This region has shown positive interest in progressing Dynamic Food Procurement, but more action is needed to establish a working group to take things forward. Please register your interest to get involved in this.

North East England

County Durham, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear

The North East region successfully created the North East Sustainable Food Alliance (NESFA). NESFA exists as an informal alliance between the three founding sustainable food partnerships in the North East region: Newcastle, Middlesbrough and County Durham. These three food partnerships each have existing relationships with a range of anchor institutions (local authorities, universities, colleges and hospitals) and procurement professionals. They secured £10k funding from The Dixon Foundation and are using this to build regional momentum, collect data, and explore routes to market. Efforts initially centered on working with an existing buying organisation, the North East Purchasing Organisation who represents every local authority in the North East region as a procurement body. This body chose not to progress, and so alternative routes are now being explored.

The South West region was host to the original pilots of Dynamic Food Procurement. Dozens of schools and universities in the West of England region have implemented Dynamic Food Procurement and realised significant financial and environmental cost savings. Further counties across the South West region have now engaged with the process to implement Dynamic Food Procurement. Though, more anchor institutions are sought in the region to implement in order to bring scale and bigger economic, social and environmental outcomes.
